Orange Dahlia Original Oil Painting
In 2017 I was living in Windsor, Colorado. Windsor has a beautiful community garden hidden off one of the main roads. Just as the first snow fell in 2017, I visited the garden for the first time to take pictures of the flowers. The weather seemed to be affecting my camera, just as I clicked the shutter the camera, while trying to focus on the orange dahlia inexplicably morphed the leaves from verdant green into purple and then into a deep cerulean blue. The cerulean blue and purple colors were the perfect contrast to bright orange dahlia, and I snapped the picture, a fleeting moment of magic captured through the lens of my imperfect camera. I created this oil painting from the image, making sure to paint the colors as vibrant as they appeared while the camera’s colors shifted and glitched.
Oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas, 2 feet by 3 feet, golden frame.
