Welcome to the Art World of MKMKennedy

My name is Megan K McBride-Kennedy. I specialize in oil paints, intricate graphite drawings, and henna tattoo designs.

My love of art began over 30 years ago when I first learned to draw at a very young age. My art has been developing ever since, and while I have focused mostly on drawing, I also found joy in both sculpting and painting. I decided to become a professional artist in 2014. Currently I am a student studying for a bachelor’s in art history, associates in graphic design and a certification in small business management.

As an artist I am an observer pulling inspiration from the natural world and wildlife. Through oil painting I attempt to capture the brilliance and colors of nature through landscapes, while also exploring the complexities and details of plants and flowers. When drawing I employ a high amount of detail and tend to focus more on animals and portraits. Through my art series Anatomy and Surrealism I explore themes of transformation, and symbolism of the human body, plants & nature. Mediums I work with include oil painting, graphite pencil, colored pencil, and Henna. I edit and produce my own fine art prints.

In the spirit of continual growth and exploration, I recently ventured into the realm of Henna Mehndi design. Since November of 2022, I have dedicated myself to mastering the art of Henna/Mehndi, seeking to blend tradition with contemporary design.

I continue to create my own henna designs, and am currently designing my own custom stencils. Henna is a beautiful and unique art form that transforms the human body into a temporary canvas. Experiencing henna will captivate anyone with its beauty of intricate and exotic patterns.

Yoga

When I am not creating artwork, I indulge in various other creative pursuits that allow me to explore different endeavors and express myself in unique ways. For over 20 years of my life I have been studying and practicing the art of yoga. However, it took over 15 years to find a truly wonderful yoga studio in which I could learn, study and become a yoga instructor. This continuous journey of self-expression complements my artistic endeavors and nourishes my passion for all forms of creativity and the pursuit of knowledge.

I am a yogi and Yoga Instructor at Sacred Space Yoga (SSYoga.com), above Makers, Mercantile and Studio. I achieved my yoga instructor certification in December 2021, and my kid’s yoga certification in May of 2023, with Shirley Smithson (childrenimagineyogarts.com). I am currently studying and working towards a certification in Energy Therapy Yoga (which includes Chinese meridians and pressure points) with Krista Lidiak. The rainbow mandala door for Sacred Space Yoga, outside of Makers, is one of my paintings.
